Athena is Leicester's largest permanent dining and events venue located in the heart of the City's new cultural quarter, directly opposite the brand new 'Curve' theatre.
Originally designed in 1936 by Robert Arthur Bullivant as an Odeon Cinema, the venue represented one of the largest, most extravagant buildings within the region comprising of one cinema screen seating over 3000 guests! It was then subdivided into four screens in the 1960s and remained closed throughout much of the 1990s. The building has now been restored to its former glory retaining many of its original features, along with its reputation for being the leading venue in Leicester.
As a landmark building situated within the cultural quarter of the city centre, Athena combines original features such as its exceptional acoustic insulation with state of the art technology, to provide an ideal venue for dinners, conferences and award ceremonies. Centrally located within reach of all major road, rail and air networks, Athena boasts a capacity of over 1300 guests for a conference or up to 700 for a seated dinner, making the facility amongst the largest in the Midlands. In 2008, Athena launched a spectacular range of Christmas Parties that gives Leicester a new and exciting option for party goers this Christmas.
As well as mixed parties for groups of ten upwards, Athena is available for exclusive hire for parties of 400 upwards.
